Sylvia P. Bishop age 89 of rural New Riegel, Ohio died at 6:02 A.M., Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the Good Shephard Home in Fostoria, Ohio. She was born on October 29, 1930 in Vanlue, Ohio to Lee and Nina (Arnett) Risner. She married Jacob C. Bishop on June 24, 1950 and he survives.
Surviving are the following family members, Rev. Mark (Susan) Bishop, Bellevue, Ohio, David (Cindy) Bishop, Perrysburg, Ohio and Paul (Letitia Marth) Bishop, Ottawa Hills, Ohio. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Aundy (Jason) Teply, Bowling Green, Ohio, Nathan (Michelle) Bishop, Riva, Maryland, Lee(Stana) Bishop, Berkeley, California, Mathew (Jessica Allen) Bishop, Chicago, Illinois, Andrew (Catherine) Bishop, Berkeley, California, Bennett Bishop, Houston, Texas, Todd (Karly) McGee, Bowling Green, Ohio, Kim (Steve) Barnaclo, Bowling Green, Ohio, Connor Bishop, Hanover, New Hampshire, Nikolas Bishop, Ottawa Hills, Ohio. There are also seven great-grandchildren and three on the way. Sylvia was preceded in death by nine brothers, two sisters, three half-brothers and three half-sisters.
Sylvia was a homemaker and also for twenty-two years operated the Penwood Motel in Alvada, Ohio. She was a 1948 graduate of McCutchenville High School and was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in McCutchenville, Ohio for sixty-eight years. She also was a fifty-four year member of Warpole Lodge # 366 O.E.S., Upper Sandusky, Ohio, was a volunteer for Community Hospice Care and an avid blood donor. For hobbies Sylvia was a great home interior decorator, she made Christmas trees out of jewelry and loved the flowers she planted outdoors in her many gardens.
Funeral services for Sylvia will be on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Trinity United Church of Christ, McCutchenville with Pastor Elyse Everhart and Rev. Louis Dorsch officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery, rural McCutchenville. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2020 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio and also on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 10:00-11:00 A.M. prior to the funeral service at the church. Following the burial there will be a luncheon celebrating her life at the church.
