Robert W. Shellhouse

Robert W. Shellhouse, age 96 formerly of rural Sycamore, Ohio died Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 3:13 P.M. at his daughter’s residence in Tiffin, Ohio. He was born on March 18, 1924 in Wyandot County, Ohio to Ray and Anna (Burns) Shellhouse. He married Doris L. (Wolfe) Shellhouse on October 19, 1952 and she died March 10, 2016.                                                          

Surviving are the following children, David (Theresa) Shellhouse, Delaware, Ohio, Barbara (Verne) Hedges, Fruita, Colorado, Lori Sauber, Tiffin, Ohio, Diana (Joe) Miley, West Salem, Ohio, Francine (Jeff) Neal, Tiffin, Ohio, Scott (Kit) Shellhouse, rural Sycamore, Ohio Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, Eric Shellhouse, Elizabeth (Travis) Carmical, Emily (Ryan) Spitzer, Andrew Hedges, Adam and Daniel Ginsburg, Stephanie (Justin) Kiser, Thomas (Jessica) Reed-Munoz, Jason (Amy) Miley, Anna Miley, Audrey (Kyle) Nickles, Clayton Neal, Cameron and Liam Shellhouse plus six great-grandchildren and a son-in-law, Steve Ginsburg, West Chester, Pennsylvania. Bob was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeannine Ginsburg on November 6, 2015 and three brothers, Forrest, Arthur and Russell Shellhouse.                   

Robert was a retired farmer and also for over fifty years owned Shellhouse Home and Farm Sales, where also for twenty-five years sold New Holland Farm Machinery. He was a member of the Sycamore United Church of Christ where over the years served on many committees throughout the church and also was on the church Dartball team. He was a 1943 graduate of Sycamore High School where for many years organized the Sycamore Alumni Banquet. He was a former member of the Wyandot County Farm Bureau, was a 4-H advisor also for many years helping with the former Mohawk Eager Beavers 4-H Club. He was a member of the Mohawk Historical Society, loved to go to livestock shows to watch his children and grandchildren show their livestock and he never missed attending the Ohio State Fair ever in his lifetime except this year. He also was responsible for putting Bob’s Mystery Photo every week in the Mohawk Leader for years and loved to videotape any event in the area for many years.                                                  

Funeral services for Bob will be held on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio with Mr. Paul Kostyu officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 7, 2020 from 1:00-3:00 P.M. prior to the funeral service. Social distancing and wearing masks are required at the funeral home due to the coronavirus.
