John L. Lofland, age 71 of 304 West Saffel Ave., Sycamore, Ohio died at 11:50 A.M., Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital. He was born on November 26, 1949 in Shelby, Ohio to Aden “Pete” and Julia (Young) Lofland. He married Sandra (Beard) Mohrman Lofland on October 15, 2011 and she survives.
Surviving is one son, Erik (Alecia) Lofland, Willard, Ohio, one stepson, Shane Schimpff, Willard, Ohio, three stepdaughters, Heidi (Bruce) Rowe, Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Hana (Russell) Wengerd, Upper Sandusky, Ohio, and Halle (Tom) Aurand, rural Sycamore, Ohio. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Kassidy, Logan and Morgan Lofland plus two step-grandchildren, Madison Wengerd and Addison Rowe and two sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Pennell, Plymouth, Ohio and Marietta Pickett, Fairborn, Ohio.
John was a retired pressman for R R Donnelley and Sons, Willard, Ohio having worked for them for forty-two years. He was a 1969 graduate of South Central High School, he attended the Sycamore United Church of Christ, was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Wakeman, Ohio and a former member of the ATA (American Trapshooter Association).
For hobbies, he loved to go hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, cutting wood and played professional slow pitch softball for Schlessman Seeds, Sandusky, Ohio. He coached Little League Baseball and was known in the area for years playing Santa Claus at many holiday events.
Funeral services for John will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio with the Rev. Dr. Matthew Zuehlke officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
