John H. Knaup, age 91 of 7607 W. Twp. Rd. 52, Carey, Ohio died Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 7:03 P.M. at The Willows of Tiffin surrounded with his loving family at his side. He was born on October 31, 1930 in Fostoria, Ohio to Ralph and Gertrude (Brubaker) Knaup. He married Evelyn (Mohr) Knaup on October 25, 1952 and she survives.
Surviving are the following children: Jan (Joel) Wood, rural Findlay, Ohio, Kevin Knaup, rural Dunkirk, Ohio and Doug (Robin) Knaup, Hilliard, Ohio. Also surviving are four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jill Knaup, and a son, Brian Knaup, who died in 2011, plus a brother, Ralph “Junior” Knaup.
John was a field representative for Milk Marketing for thirty-eight years. He also farmed most of his life which he loved to do.
John was a 1948 graduate of McCutchenville High School, was a member of Melmore United Methodist Church, was a seventy-three year member of McCutchen Grange, was a 4-H advisor for Wide Awake 4-H Club for over fifty years, and was a past board member and past president of the North Central Electric CO-OP Board. John was inducted into the Seneca County Agricultural Hall of Fame, volunteered as a SCAT Driver, and volunteered for Wyandot Cares.
For hobbies, John enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Erie and taking trips with Evelyn. John was an avid Ohio State Football Fan and at one time attended the Rose Bowl Parade to watch his son, Doug, perform with the Ohio State Marching Band. What was important to John was spending time with his family who meant the world to him. He was such a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Funeral services for John will be held at 11:00 A.M, Tuesday, January 11,2022 at the Melmore United Methodist Church with the Rev. Amy Vittorio officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery, McCutchenville, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 10:00-11:00 A.M. prior to the funeral service at the church.
The family would like people attending visitation or funeral service to wear a mask. Feel free to wear your OSU gear for visitation or funeral service.
