Janice M. Burnside, age 86 of rural Tiffin, Ohio died at 6:55 A.M., Thursday, March 14, 2024 at St. Francis Home. She was born on December 21, 1937 in Seneca County to J. Wesley and Doris (Sheldon) Scott. She married Willis Burnside on July 25, 1964 and he died January 30, 2018.
Surviving are ten nieces and nephews: Rich Clouse, Bryan Clouse, Kevin Clouse, Daniel Sherman, Rebecca Clouse, Deb Garber, Susan Tyrpak, Philip Burnside, David Burnside and Duane Burnside, plus one sister, Gladys Clouse-Shumway, rural Tiffi,n and one brother, Robert W. Scott, Tiffin, Ohio and a great-great niece, Olivia Clouse. Also surviving are many great nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was one sister, Alice Mae Ludwig, who passed away on December 5, 1969.
Janice was a switchboard operator having started with Ohio Bell, Tiffin and Findlay, and then worked 35 years as a switchboard operator for National Machinery, Tiffin, Ohio.
Janice was a 1955 graduate of Melmore High School, a member of Tiffin Harmony Church where she was active as a Sunday School teacher, Youth for Christ, Bible Quiz and the Youth Fellowship. Her and Willis were very instrumental in getting the social room built at the church. She also was a member of the Quarter Century Club at National Machinery.
For hobbies, her and Willis were operators of J&W Cider Mill from 1969-2005. Janice also loved to bowl, play volleyball, softball and golf. Her and Willis loved to travel having traveled to all 49 states in the United States.
A funeral service for Janice will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Tiffin Harmony Church at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Terry Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery, McCutchenville, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio and also on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. prior to the funeral service.
