J. Dewey Hetzel Obituary

J. Dewey Hetzel Jr. age 83 of 1296 County Highway 37, Sycamore, Ohio died at 8:40 A.M. Sunday, February 4, 2024 at The Willows at Tiffin. He was born on June 5, 1940 in Wyandot County, Ohio to J. Dewey Hetzel Sr. and Alta (Everhart) Hetzel. He married Nancy (Osborn) Hetzel and they later divorced. He then married Faye (Swyers) Hetzel and she died in 2009. He currently has a significant friend, Doris Daniel, Sycamore. 

Surviving are the following children: Lowell E. (Peg) Hetzel, Tiffin, Ohio, Mark A. (Judith) Hetzel, New Carlisle, Ohio, Jeffrey L. (Linda) Hetzel, Louisburg, North Carolina, and Joel R. (Jennifer) Hetzel, Fostoria, Ohio. He also is survived by nine grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and two great -great grandchildren, plus one brother, Ronald L. (Patsy) Hetzel, rural Tiffin, Ohio. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Miriam Heimrick and Eloise Dunbar. 

Dewey was a bus mechanic for the Mohawk School System for 32 years and also farmed with his brother, Ron. He was a 1958 graduate of Sycamore High School, a member of the Sycamore United Methodist Church, a charter member of the International Harvestor Collectors, charter member of the International Harvestor Collectors of Ohio, Chapter 6, member of the Northwest Ohio Antique Association and past president three times, member of the Indian Mill Antique Association, and a lifetime member of the Tri-State Antique Association of Portland, Indiana. 

For hobbies, Dewey loved attending tractor pulls, fixing up old tractors, and farming. 

Funeral services for Dewey will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio with the Rev. Amy Vittorio officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
