Charles E. Holman, age 82, formerly of 7389 Marion-Melmore Road, Sycamore, Ohio, died at 3:55 A.M., Friday, December 18, 2020 at Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin, Ohio. He was born on January 15, 1938 in Crawford County to Russell and Bernice (Ruch) Holman. He married Neva (Miller) Holman on October 18, 1959 and she died July 29, 2020.
Surviving are the following children, Eric (Pam) Holman, rural Bucyrus, Ohio, Pam (Don) Spangler, Tiffin, Ohio, and Steve (Belinda) Holman, rural Sycamore, Ohio. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Natalie Amlin, Brandon Amlin, Audrey (Jason Reese) Spangler, and Laura Spangler, plus four great-grandchildren, Kaiden Rhoades, Korianna Rhoades, Jackson Spangler, and Camryn Reese. Charles also has two sisters, Helen Brownell, rural Tiffin, Ohio, and Bernita Geary, rural Bloomville, Ohio, one niece, Robin Brownell, and three nephews, Bruce, Lee, and Don Geary.
Charles was a mechanic and heavy equipment operator having owned his own excavating company for ten years called H&G Excavating. He also worked at one time at Burkhart Farm Center, New Winchester, Ohio. He was a 1956 graduate of Lykens High School, member of Plankton United Methodist Church, life member of the NRA, and a member of the former Sycamore Horseshoe Club. He also worked for Men of Missions building roads in Haiti.
For hobbies, he was an avid hunter, loved to trap and go fishing, cut wood, go to auctions and flea markets, and gospel sings around the area.
Funeral services for Charles will be Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio with the Rev. Bradley Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Benton Cemetery, Crawford County. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 from 11 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. prior to the funeral service. It will be required to wear a mask and social distance if coming to the funeral service or visitation.
