Arnold E. Riedel, age 91 of 1264 County Highway 16, Sycamore, Ohio died at 7:02 A.M., Saturday, March 21, 2020 at home. He was born on November 14, 1928 in Deunquat, Ohio to Layton D. and Hildred A. (Stoner) Riedel. He married Alice L. (Romanko) Riedel on January 21, 1953 and she survives.
Surviving are the following children, Galen L. Riedel, rural Sycamore, Ohio and Cynthia Riedel, Jackson, Wyoming. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Nicholas (Cindy) Riedel, Seth (Jenny) Riedel and Rachel Riedel and friend Michelle Dedrick plus three great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Lyssa Riedel, two sisters, Karis Schroeder, Leipsic, Ohio and Carol (Carl) Steinhauser, Tiffin, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Riedel on July 5, 2012, three brothers and three sisters and a daughter-in-law, Deb Wood.
He was a retired farmer, previously worked at the former Deunquat Elevator, National Lime and Stone and a custodian for the Mohawk School System. He also served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict where he achieved the rank of Sergeant.
For hobbies Arnold loved to bake pies, go camping, hunting wild game, hunting morel mushrooms and looking for arrowheads. He and Alice spent winters later in life in Quartzsite, Arizona.
Per Arnold’s request he has donated his body to the Ohio State University College of Medicine for anatomical research.
A combined memorial service for Arnold and Alice Riedel will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Sycamore United Methodist Church with the Rev. Amy Vittorio officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 P.M. Saturday at the church prior to the memorial service.
