Twila J. (Geary) Walton of Westbrook Assisted Living, Upper Sandusky passed from this life to the arms of her savior at 9:59 A.M., Friday, January 11,2019 at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center, Upper Sandusky, Ohio. She was 88. Born August 12, 1930 in Sycamore, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Glen and Evelyn (Riedel) Geary. She and Clarence L. Walton were married on March 9, 1947 in the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Sycamore. Her husband of 63 years preceded her in death on September 9, 2010.  

Mrs. Walton is survived by a daughter, Janie S. (Jim) Kear, Troy, Ohio: two sons, Tim C. (Jill) Walton rural Sycamore, Ohio and Bradley A. (Barbara) Walton, Upper Sandusky, Ohio: seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren: two brothers, Chet Geary, Akron, Ohio, Jed Geary, Upper Sandusky, Ohio; three sisters, Marcile  McBride, Forest, Ohio: Jocelyn Risley, rural Sycamore, Ohio and Patsy Barron,Tiffin, Ohio.   

Mrs. Walton worked at the former Commercial Savings Bank, Upper Sandusky as a teller and was later a bookkeeper at B. F. Walton & Sons Seed Company.                                                                                             

Twila enjoyed music and started Singing with her sister Marcile at an early age. In July of 1936 Sycamore’s first amateur hour was held. Five entries appeared with first prize being awarded to Twila (age 6) and Marcile Geary (age 8), who were accompanied by their mother on guitar. Twila was also a member of the Smithville Ladies Chorus and sang many solos at church and in the community. She was a member of the Smithville United Methodist Church for many years and is currently a member of the Trinity Evangelical Church in Upper Sandusky. In the summers the Walton family hosted several singspirations at their home for the community churches. Twila was also a poet and in her later years took up painting. She was also known as an excellent seamstress including making bridesmaid dresses for her daughter’s wedding. 

Twila and her family also enjoyed vacationing at Bay Point on the Marblehead Peninsula. Many good times were had boating and skiing. Family dinners were also enjoyed by all which included Twila’s wonderful potato salad.   

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M, Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Trinity Evangelical Church with the Rev. James Stauffer officiating Burial will follow at Smithville Cemetery, Wyandot County. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio and also from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the church prior to the funeral service.
