Lowell P. Hosler

Lowell P. Hosler, age 86 of Sycamore, Ohio died at 5:35 A.M., Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on May 10, 1932 in Defiance, Ohio to Paul and Velma (Sprau) Hosler. He married Nancy (Winters) Hosler on September 5, 1959 and she survives in Sycamore, Ohio.     

Surviving are the following children, Lori Renee and Jeff Obenour, Prospect, Ohio and Jeffrey P. Hosler, Sycamore, Ohio. Also surviving are two grandsons, Eli Aubihl, Cincinnati, Ohio and Derek Hosler, Toledo, Ohio plus a sister, Marcella Bayliss, Defiance, Ohio. He also is survived by one niece and two nephews.

Lowell was a retired school teacher having taught in the Mohawk High School System from 1965-1989. He was a 1950 graduate of Sherwood-Delaware High School, a 1959 graduate of Defiance College, member of the Sycamore American Legion Post # 250 where he was commander in 1994, 2000 and 2001. He was a member of the Wyandot County Retired Teachers Association, was a former Sycamore Village councilman, was in the first class in 1973 to become a certified EMT for the new Sycamore EMS Squad. He also was a former member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He also served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1950-1954 during the Korean Conflict.   

For hobbies Lowell loved to golf where at one time he was the Mohawk High School Golf coach, also loved to hunt, raise beagles and go fishing on Lake Erie in his boat.                                                                      

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio with the Rev. Steve Sturgeon officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 1:00-3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Sycamore American Legion Post # 250 will also conduct a military service at the conclusion of the memorial service.

Also a graveside service for the ashes to be buried will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Sherwood Cemetery, Sherwood, Ohio.
