Jerome “Jerry” Brown, age 47 of Las Vegas, Nevada and formerly of Sycamore, Ohio died Saturday, October 20, 2018 in Las Vegas due to complications from a motorcycle accident.
Jerry was born in 1971 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio to Donna (Brown) Heilman and Jerome G. Brown. He spent his childhood in Sycamore, Ohio with his mother Donna and stepfather Donald Heilman. He graduated from Mohawk High School in 1989. He then joined the Navy after graduation. He met and married Maria (Blackwell) Randles and they had a son, Alex. They later divorced. He was deployed during Desert Storm and was honorably discharged in 1993. In 1998 he had a second son, Cody with Melissa Arnsperger of Mesa, Arizona.
Jerry worked as a fire protection specialist for Ace Fire Systems. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and bull riding. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed riding with a biker group. Jerry also enjoyed spending time with friends and family especially Chris and Jason which he met in Las Vegas. He also enjoyed watching his son Cody play various sports throughout school. Jerry was extremely proud of Cody for joining the Air Force in 2017. Although Jerry was not involved with his first son Alex’s life he loved him very much.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Heilman and his grandparents.
Survivors include two sons, Alex Randles, Hampton, Virginia and Cody Brown, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Tucson, Arizona, his father Jerome G. Brown, Albuquerque, New Mexico, stepfather, Donald Heilman, Sycamore, Ohio, one sister, Katherine (Richard) Lucius, McCutchenville, Ohio, two nieces, April (Pom) Kim, Pickerington, Ohio and Rachel (Nathan) Smoot, Tiffin, Ohio, two great nieces, Jaela and Maebri and one great nephew Grayson.
Visitation will be held on Friday evening, November 2, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Bethel Cemetery, McCutchenville, Ohio with Pastor Kristin Buchs officiating. Sycamore American Legion Post # 250, will conduct a military graveside service also.
