W. Warren Weininger Obituary

W. Warren Weininger, age 96 formerly of County Highway 58, McCutchenville, Ohio died at 9:37 A.M., Sunday, February 18, 2018 at St. Francis Home, Tiffin, Ohio surrounded by his family. He was born on October 10, 1921 in Seneca County in the farm house in which he lived in for 93 years to Welsh Warren and Mae L. (Parks) Weininger. He married Beatrice L. (Palmer) Weininger on March 10, 1945 and she died September 7, 1997.                          

Surviving are the following children, Charles (Sue) Weininger, Tiffin, Ohio , David (Lynda) Weininger, rural McCutchenville, Ohio, Daryl (Mary Ellen) Weininger, Westerville, Ohio and Mary Jane (Larry) Klohn, Fremont, Ohio. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and one sister, Phyllis Barth, rural Sycamore, Ohio. He was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Weininger and one sister, Matilda Matsick.   

Warren graduated from McCutchenville High School in 1939 where he was president of his Senior Class. Warren won a scholarship from Kroger to attend The Ohio State University enrolling in Animal Husbandry. One of his proudest accomplishments was playing trombone in the OSU Marching Band at the top of the “H” in Script Ohio. Warren left college in 1943 to enroll in the Navy and attained the rank of Ensign.                   

Warren’s life work was as a farmer and dairyman on the family farm for over sixty years. Besides the hard work and rewarding work of farming, he was a life long member of Trinity United Church of Christ in McCutchenville where he held many offices. In addition, he was a member of the former Wyandot Lodge #314 F&A.M. McCutchenville and currently Enterprise Lodge # 579 F&A.M., Sycamore for a combined 70 plus years. He also was treasurer for twenty-five years for Wyandot Lodge# 314 F&A.M., McCutchenville. He also was a member of Carey Chapter 159 RAM, member of Upper Sandusky Council 98 RSM, member of DeMolay Commandry #9 Knights Templar of Tiffin. Warren also was the sexton of Bethel Cemetery for over thirty years and also was treasurer of the McCutchenville Fire Department for several years.     

Warren’s hobbies were playing trombone in Creeger’s Band in his earlier life, fishing, playing the harmonica, playing Euchre and eating homemade ice cream.                                                                            

A memorial service for Warren will be held on March 10, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Trinity United Church of Christ in McCutchenville, Ohio with Rev. Paul Fraser and Rev. Karen Fraser Moore officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 P.M. prior to the memorial service at the church. A private family burial will be held at Bethel Cemetery at a later date.
