Sharon Katherine Slavey

Sharon Katherine Slavey, 73 died early on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Altercare of Bucyrus, after a brief stay. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on July 21, 1945 to Albert Stewart Sr. and Evelyn (Boggs) Stewart. On February 2, 1961 she married Robert Slavey Sr., who preceded her in death in 2003.

Survivors include her daughters, Darlene Moyers of Marion and Katherine Slavey of Bucyrus: nine grandchildren: Jack (Leslie) Melody, and Samuel Bianchi, Sarah (Samantha) Brunty, Robert lll., Tiffany, and Conner Slavey, Kayla Moyers, and Robbie Elwood ;two great-grandsons, Brett Bianchi and Peyton Smith: two brothers, Gene (Dockie) Stewart of Iberia and Albert (Theresa) Stewart Jr. of Van Buren; and many nieces and nephews.    

Also preceding her in death were her parents; her sister, Cassandra Robinette; her sons, James and Robert Jr.; her grandson, Daniel Bianchi; and her great-granddaughter, Dafne Bianchi.                                                 

Sharon began attending Harvest Time Chapel in Vanlue, Ohio when it opened in 1971, after having gotten saved three years before that, and remained a member there until her death. She took her children and grandchildren to church faithfully through the years. Her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was Sharon’s first priority. From 1973 to 1995, she ran a group home in Sycamore for individuals with developmental disabilities, sharing with them her home and her family. All who knew Sharon could testify to her kindness and generosity. She had an uncanny knack for remembering important dates of birthdays and anniversaries for her extended family and friends. Everyone looked forward to her amazing meatloaf at potluck events. Among her other attributes, she was the world’s best grandmother. Her favorite activities included spending time with family and friends, playing the harmonica, and listening to bluegrass music (especially when the musicians were her family members). She also dearly loved her canine companion of the last few years, Buddy.    

Funeral services for Sharon will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio with the Rev. Chris Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 11,2018 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
